SPRING OF 2024 – CONTINUING YOGA BASICS

This class is perfect for beginners or those with experience who want to refine their basic skills or have been away from their yoga practice and need a refresher.  It is on-going and progressive.  The student will build strength, flexibility and balance week-to-week.  Each class will end with a mindful, breath awareness meditation.  Wear any comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.  Mats and props provided.

Each class will include a series of poses that emphasize following:

  • Correct postural alignment for the poses
  • Listening non-judgmentally to your body
  • Correct effort in the pose and use of props for safety
  • Entry level inversions: supported shoulder stand and the techniques required for full arm balance and headstand

Dates:  Once a week on Wednesdays from March 13 – May 15

Time:  5:30-6:45

FREE MEDITATION AT THE DIXON

Every Friday at The Dixon on Park, an informal group meets for meditation 12:00 – 12:30.  Chairs provided.  No sitting on the floor is necessary.  No experience is necessary.

Come practice being still and non-reactive to life’s ever increasing demand for our attention.  What you practice, strengthens!  Skills you will learn:

  • How to choose “mindfully” what is best for you to notice in your daily life
  • How to “respond with assurance” to stressors instead of just “reacting”
  • Easy-to-do, practical ways to incorporate mindfulness into each day

Afterward you can grab your lunch at Park & Cherry cafe inside the main building or check out Food Truck Fridays.  Each week a new truck is parked at the main entrance.

 

EASY STRETCH TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA

Stress and trauma experienced in the body makes “samscaras” or memories that build negative layers of discomfort in the body. The goal of Easy Stretch and Trauma Informed Yoga is to give positive body experiences to overwrite those negative layers allowing a reclaiming of our natural ease in our own body.  You can expect gentle poses combined with easy breath work and a relaxation meditation to top it off for a renewed, relaxed feeling.
